ORGANIC cod farmers Johnson Sustainable Seafoods have landed another award for
their Shetland-produced farmed fish.
The Soil Association gave the Vidlin firm a silver award at their Organic Food
Awards 2006 ceremony in Britsol last Friday.
The company has already won acclaim this year at the Scottish Food and Drink
Excellence Awards where it scooped three prizes, including the "supreme award"
for the best overall food and drink product of the year.
They have also won the Crown Estate Marine Business Award for their strong focus
on sustainability, the environment and fish welfare.
The organic cod under the label NO CATCH. JUST COD is now available in Tesco,
Sainsbury's and Booths with other retailers expected to add the product shortly.
Managing director Karol Rzepkowski said: "This is a great accolade for all our
hardworking staff at Johnson Sustainable Seafoods. We are pioneering a new form
of aquaculture and being recognised by the Soil Association is a fantastic
endorsement of what everyone at Johnsons Sustainable Seafoods is trying to
achieve."
