15 January 2010

Following a review of weather forecasts for the next few days NorthLink have advised there are likely to be cancellations and delays due to adverse weather and unfavourable port conditions.

This advance warning applies to both passenger services and freight vessel services between Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Lerwick.

The current expectation is that there are unlikely to be any passenger or freight sailings north or south today (Friday) or tomorrow.

The company said where possible cancellation decisions will be made by 11am each day and posted on the NorthLink website www.northlinkferries.co.uk and on
the sailing information line 0845 6000 449.

However, as conditions change services may be cancelled later in the day and potentially after the scheduled departure time where the prevailing conditions are not
favourable.

Passengers will board as normal departure is delayed awaiting improvements in the weather, and if the trip is cancelled they will allowed to choose to disembark, make alternative arrangements or rebook for the next boat.

The company apologised for the difficulties.
