SHETLAND Seafood Auctions (SSA) has been commended for providing valuable work
experience to isles students.
The company has been short listed in the National Council for Work Experience
awards for their efforts helping student Emily Garrick and graduate Suzanne
Manson.
Last year Ms Garrick worked on a marketing project as part of the Shell Step
programme and Ms Manson has recently been appointed on a graduate placement
programme helping with promotion and marketing.
SSA manager Martin Leyland said: “Emily not only undertook a highly successful
project for the auction, she went on to win Shell Step’s Most Enterprising
Student in Shetland.”
“We very much appreciate the value that projects such as these can offer. In
particular, the experience of working in a real work environment on real
projects is a crucial part of an individual’s development.”
The overall winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 12
March.
