A FEAST of fish raised more than £1,000 for the Lerwick Fishermen’s Mission at
the weekend.
The first major fund raising event of the year, the Fish Fiesta at Da Haaf
restaurant, in Scalloway, is an important fixture in the Mission’s calendar.
After the meal a raffle saw Magnus Shearer win a CD player, and museum curator
Ian Tait give a talk on displaying fishing history at Hay’s Dock.
The event was a poignant one for both the local mission and the fisheries
college as both mission superintendent Peter Dade and college director Peter
Dryburgh are leaving the islands for pastures new in Scrabster and the Borders
respectively.
