A NEW daily fisheries news website has been launched by the Scottish White Fish Producers' Association.

The biggest fishermen's grouping in the UK has secured the services of well respected industry journalist Bob Kennedy to edit the service.

Mr Kennedy was recently made redundant from his previous post as editor of FISHupdate magazine and the FISHupdate website. He is also a former fishing and shipping editor of the Press and Journal.

Yesterday (Friday) he said he was more than happy to take on the new task of providing and developing the daily news service www.fishnewseu.com

The new site covers all industry sectors, together with reports from the major daily fish markets and other information including how the oil price is performing.

He said: "The news service is completely independent of the association and is sourced on a UK, European and global basis.

"There is never a dull moment in the seafood sector and the development of this new and independent news operation represents an exciting new challenge for me.

"The initial reaction has been favourable, and I am keen to build on that as we enter the frenetic end of year negotiations period for the catching sector."
