THE SEAFOOD restaurant at the NAFC Marine Centre, in Scalloway, is to be run
under new management as of next Monday.
Colin and Cheryl Davies will extend Da Haaf's opening hours which had to be cut
back earlier this year when the restaurant's previous chef left for another job.
Mr Davies comes with more than 30 years experience in restaurant and hotel
catering including managing two public houses and working in three hotels as
head chef.
NAFC Marine Centre estates manager David Hopwood said the college had been "very
impressed" by the couple's ideas about running the restaurant and were confident
that they would deliver an excellent service. Staff will transfer to the new
management team.
Mr Davies said: "Da Haaf already has a well established reputation for its
seafood. We will be continuing to offer a range of fresh local seafood and also
other island produce including Shetland lamb, Orkney beef, cheese and home made
desserts.
"In addition to the restaurant being open and serving breakfast and lunch for
staff, students and visitors during the day time, it will remain open until 8pm
in the evening throughout the week.
"We will also be extending the opening hours to serve lunch and a carvery on
Sundays from 12 noon until 3pm. As a result, we hope to see a lot more families
with children using the restaurant."
