THE SHETLAND annual appeal for the local Fishermens' Mission has raised a
dramatic £3,800, it was announced yesterday (Tuesday).
Superintendent Peter Dade expressed grateful thanks to everyone who supported
the appeal, as well as the post offices, banks and Alliance and Leicester
building society for acting as collecting agents.
Thanks also went to North Isles Industries Ltd for covering printing costs and
to The Shetland Times for leaflet distribution.
This year has been the 100th anniversary of the local mission. "The support of
the Shetland community is greatly appreciated by all of us here at the mission,
enabling us to continue to serve the needs of fishermen and their families for
the next 100 years," Supt Dade said.
