SHETLAND'S Ladies Lifeboat Guild has raised more money than ever before from
their annual coffee morning onboard NorthLink's Hjaltland ferry.
More than 400 people joined the ladies for teas, coffees and homebakes last
weekend. There was also lucky dips, a tombola and a raffle, as well as the
chance to buy souvenirs to raise the cash for the Royal National Lifeboat
Institution (RNLI).
Guild president Rhoda Watt said yesterday (Tuesday): "We saw a steady stream of
people throughout the morning and were delighted to raise a record sum of over
£3,000 for the lifeboat from what has now become an annual event.
"We very much appreciate the tremendous support that we receive from the
NorthLink staff and the people who turn out to support such a worthy cause. We
are particularly grateful to NorthLink's Jane Leask who is always so helpful and
accommodating."
