A FEMALE white-sided dolphin perished after stranding at Sand Voe, on Shetland's
west side yesterday afternoon.
Paul Harvey, of Shetland Amenity Trust, went out to see the dolphin after it was
reported as having stranded in the morning, when it was still alive.
However by the time Mr Harvey and his colleagues got to Sand Voe the dolphin had
already died.
In July this year two white sided dolphins stranded at Weisdale Voe, where
several others of the same species have died in recent years.
