FERRY operators NorthLink plan to hold an open day in May to show off the new
cabins on their two ferries Hjaltland and Hrossey, which ply the route between
the northern isles and Aberdeen.
The company has already installed 22 new cabins on the Hrossey, including
several premium cabins with a TV and DVD, and tea and coffee making facilities.
They have also created four executive cabins, which include a larger fixed bed,
a pull down bunk, a desk area, tea and coffee facilities with complimentary
chocolates and newspapers.
Meanwhile 10 of the existing four berth cabins, often used for sharing, have
been fitted with privacy curtains on all bunks.
Once the Hjaltland has undergone it three week refit in Birkenhead, starting on
14 April, both vessels will have 117 cabins with 356 berths.
Commercial director Gareth Crichton said: "I'm keen that islanders have the
chance to view the results of the refit. Once Hjaltland returns from dry-dock in
May it is our intention to open one of the vessels to the public so they can
come and see the changes for themselves."
