THREE SHETLAND aquaculture companies have been shortlisted in a prestigious industry awards ceremony.

Hjaltland Seafarms has been shortlisted in the finfish section, Blueshell Mussels in the shellfish section and Johnson Seafarms in the innovation section of the 2007 Aquaculture Today - Fit for the Future awards.

The winner will be announced during a special gala industry awards dinner at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa on 18 April, one of the highlights of the Aquaculture Today conference, which starts on 17 April.

Conference chairman Bob Kennedy said: "The response to our awards has been tremendous and is a graphic illustration of both the diversity and increasing maturity of the aquaculture sector. The nominees are an impressive representation of an industry that is going places."
