THE SALMON Farm Protest Group has stopped operating because chairman Bruce
Sandison has decided to retire.
The protest group are to be stricken off the records of Companies House in
Edinburgh at their own request.
Mr Sandison, who lives in Tongue, Sutherland, said: "As I approach my 70th
birthday I have decided that, during whatever years might remain to me, I should
spend more time fishing and writing about things other than salmon farming.
"I would like to thank everyone for the support that they have given the SFPG
over the years. It has been very much appreciated and I honestly believe that we
have raised public awareness about the issues involved in the business of salmon
farming.
"In our first year, 2002, our website received 20,000 hits, in 2006 it received
400,000."
